Ramblings on College and Life

I don't want to go to college. By the time, college comes around I would have spent 13 years of my life in school already and I would add 4 more plus what ever grad school I go to and for what? So that I get a better job and make more money and buy more stuff. But its not like I'm going be able to enjoy all my rich loot because I'll be working super hard to become even richer. The odds of being so super rich that you don't have to work are slim and as woman it's even slimmer for me. Anyways everyone tells you that happiness isn't the money we make but in the lives we live, yet society keeps pressuring us into being rich, not to living. If I had it my way I would be dirt poor and still be able to own horses unfortunately one of the prerequisites for owning horses is being rich. I want to live not work until I'm almost dead and then only be able to use my spoils until past the prime of my life. We waste the best years of our lives in school and we make cheap attempts at life with parties and the weekends but I'm talking about life. The life were you wake up every morning saying this is life and I'm happy to be living it instead of waking up and saying today will help prepare me for my life. Life is right now and right here. Life should be used to it fullest doing the things we love without a care in the world. Life should be full of zest and passion and love and happiness. But for most of us, we wait for our lives to happen to us because we don't realize that we have to create our own lives. So instead we waste our lives trying to become rich and powerful and when we get there we find out it wasn't really worth it in the end. But can't brains wait? Could we live our lives to the fullest if we spent our young lives in the pursuit of happiness and our old in the pursuit of knowledge? Intellect stays with us longer than the beauty, strength and freedom of being young so therefore shouldn't we use those qualities while they last then focus on the mind. Instead of focusing on the mind first while our youth rots in a classroom. Many young Olympic athletes choose their sport over college that isn't saying they don't go to college. They simply chose to go to the Olympics first because this is their only chance to get there while they will have many chances to go to college (besides Olympic athlete looks great on a college application). We deserve our own "Olympics" in a sense, some sort of chance to spread our wings and soar because school will always be there but that once in a lifetime chance won't.
The Bottom Line: We put too much emphasize on attaining the next level of education and prosperity instead of living our lives and then focusing on wealth and intellect.
